Around 1 kWh is the sweet spot for a 72-hour blackout: enough for a router, lights and phones for three days.

EcoFlow: best overall

EcoFlow’s strength is charging speed and an ecosystem you can grow: the DELTA models take extra batteries and plenty of solar. If you might want to run a fridge or medical device later, start here. The trade-off is price.

Bluetti: best value

Bluetti usually offers the most watt-hours per euro, and the AC180 has more capacity than its rivals. It is heavier, so it suits a unit that stays in one place.

Jackery: easiest to use

Jackery keeps things simple, with clear controls and a light build for the capacity. A good choice for anyone who wants to press one button and forget about it.

Our verdict

Choose by what you need, not the logo. For most homes: EcoFlow if you want room to grow, Bluetti if you want the most capacity for your budget, Jackery if you value simplicity and weight. Our best portable power station guide also covers Anker SOLIX, our overall pick.

Questions people ask

Which brand is most reliable?

All three are established brands with LiFePO4 batteries rated for thousands of cycles in their current models. Reliability differences between them are smaller than differences between old and new model generations, so buy a current LiFePO4 model.

Are EcoFlow, Jackery and Bluetti sold with EU sockets?

Yes. All three sell EU versions with Schuko sockets through their own European stores and Amazon EU.

Should I buy the brand or the specs?

The specs. Pick the capacity and output you need first (see our sizing table), then choose between brands on price, weight and charging speed.
